The Piirissaar Old Believers' Museum is located in Saare village on the island of Piirissaar.

Piirissaar is a permanent settlement in Lake Peipus measuring 7.5 km2

There are three villages on the island: Piiri, Tooni and Saare.

Most of Piirissaar's residents are Russian Old Believers who have tried to maintain their unique culture and customs over the centuries.

Their main occupation has always been fishing and growing onions.

Today, the entire island is a nature reserve.

It is connected to Laaksaare harbour on the mainland by the ‘Koidula’ ferry.
